VULNERABLE

5.5x8.5 JAPANESE SIDE STITCHED

A community diary, this book collected responses from people ages 19-70 about their fears and experiences being vulnerable. Their words are featured in this book to create a connection of shared experience with the readers. The responses were layed out like a scrap book with cut-out imagery, stickers, and then japanese side stitched to ensure it was handled with care, and was made by hand.

Exhibited at the Smith Gallery in the Schaefer Center for Performing Arts

This book was launched at the “In Bloom” Senior Studio Exhibition in the spring of 2024, and sold at “Boone Bound Art Book Fair”. The imagery in the book is all either from myself, or submittees. These images depict reminders of vulnerability either outright, or indirectly. The installation at the exhibition allowed visitors to sit and read the book, and provided paper to reflect on.
