A COMMUNITY DIARY

A collective diary, this book gathers responses from people ages 19 to 70, sharing their fears and experiences with vulnerability. Their words create a sense of connection and shared experience with readers. Made through scanned collages, the book features a hand-cut, digitally rendered logo and is bound as a 5.5” x 8.5” Japanese side-stitched book.

LOGO︎︎︎

Since the book was meant to feel like a scrapbook but was going to be digitally rendered, I handcut the logo out of construction paper and placed each letter individually. I then image traced a photo of the logo to make the final product.

THE EXHIBITION︎︎︎
This book was launched at the “In Bloom” Senior Studio Exhibition in the spring of 2024, and sold at “Boone Bound Art Book Fair”. The imagery in the book is all either from myself, or submittees. These images depict reminders of vulnerability either outright, or indirectly. The installation at the exhibition allowed visitors to sit and read the book, and provided paper to reflect on.
